Addiction, harms, and police interaction

Earlier today, Brian Coon posted a list of references from a project on harms of drug use to users.

Keith Humphreys just shared a provocative tweet taking a more macro perspective on addition and public policy.

Police will *always* be involved with addiction. Alcohol is legal and results in more crime, violence, arrests, and incarceration than all other drugs combined. A good drug policy therefore has to improve police interaction with the population, not pretend it's avoidable.
