N-Propionitrile Brorphine is here

On December 13, 2025 I posted about the emergence of Cychlorphine (N-Propionitrile chlorphine).

Now we’re hearing about another synthetic opioid in the group being called “orphines”.

This one is N-Propionitrile brorphine. It’s been found as a contaminant in upstate New York.

For a brief overview, check out this resource from the New York State Office of Addiction Services and Supports.

They state:

The exact potency of N-propionitrile brorphine is not yet known. However, it is structurally similar to another drug in the same family (cyclorphine), which is estimated to be more potent than fentanyl.

For an academic and technical source that’s open access, consider this paper. It provides a bit of relevant information on this emerging drug class and its members as well as our current contetxt.
