I believe that there is a push to strip recovery from addiction treatment services. She does a great job explaining why an approach like this will fail.
I have been an addiction professional and social worker since 1994. I started blogging in 2005 as the Clinical Director at Dawn Farm. I currently serve as the Director of Social Work and Spiritual Care for a healthcare system. I've also served as the Director of Behavioral Health at another hospital. I'm also a lecturer at Eastern Michigan University’s School of Social Work.

Keep in mind that the field, the contexts in which the field operates, and my views have changed over time.

This is fast becoming my favorite blog site on addiction.
It’s ironic that I’ve never seen or heard anyone conceptualize, organize and communicate these issues so well. It speaks to the power of recovery, whether it’s addiction recovery or mental illness recovery.
I love those who have the courage to think outside the box. No one could have more insight than an actual patient. I look forward to hearing more from her.
She has an incredibly important message. Too often it seems our wildest dream for patients is to get them on disability, get them into an apartment and keep them out of the hospital.
