Ha ha ha – I saw so many of these ‘addictions’ in my news alerts when I first started blogging that I created a category of posts to chronicle them
called Things White People Get Addicted To http://bit.ly/pJcIZm (a take on the Stuff White People Like genre http://stuffwhitepeoplelike.com/ ). Not to link-bomb your post, just to point out that the phenomenon is pervasive, and sometimes hilarious. Also, ‘porn’ is the new ‘addiction,’ e.g. shoe porn, food porn, etc.
Good stuff!
