I know not where to begin…

Unhealthy substance-use behaviors, including a heavy alcohol intake, illicit drug use, and cigarette smoking, are engaged in by many HIV-positive individuals, often as a way to manage their disease-related symptoms.

I had no idea that HIV causes cigarette smoking as a form of self-medication.

How stupid and pathetic do these researchers think HIV+ drug users are?

Published in a scholarly journal. This makes my head hurt.
