I built a list of some addiction-related mutual-aid groups to use as an easy reference.
I wanted it to reflect variety across a number of domains: primary substance(s), abstinence, moderation, medication status, the presence of co-occurring mental disorders, gender, cultures, agnosticism/atheism, family members, etc.
And I wanted it to be a start, rather than try to be exhaustive.
In case the reader didn’t know, for the LGBTQIA+ community, one can look up and use search terms such as Lambda meetings or LGBTQ meetings as a part of the service structure of, for example, AA or NA. That’s a way to find those specific meetings.

Here’s the list I’ve built thus far. And it’s also at the bottom of the post in PDF format if that’s helpful.
A List of Some Addiction-Related Mutual Aid Groups

I provided the same feedback in person to Dr. John Kelly when he presented at GXC last year (he presented about “Multiple Pathways”).
Please take the time to review ALL the online special groups She Recovers offers: Healthcare Professionals (HCAP); Mothers of High Needs Children; Legal Professionals; Veterans and First Responders; LGBTQ+; Women of Color; Española; Next Gen (age18-30); The HCAP mtg every Sat morning online at 10:30am has been my “home group” since I “discovered” SR at the beginning of the pandemic.
I just got the NC Board of Nursing to accept SR as an “approved meeting” for nurses with licensure issues.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Women need more spaces that are FREE to safely discuss “tough stuff”. There are FREE mtgs EVERY day at 12 noon and 8pm Eastern facilitated by certified trauma responsive female facilitators.
One of the co-founders, Dr. Dawn Nickel, wrote a meditation book that is amazing – https://www.hazeldenbettyford.org/thought-for-the-day She Recovers Every Day.
Dawn was 30 years sober in 12 step and she “bottomed out” on workaholism. I RELATE.
thanks for “listening”
