What is this work, and why have I undertaken it?
It’s a series of essays that reflect some of my thoughts at this stage of my career. My hope is someone finds something here that is instructive, inspiring, challenging, or helpful.
The essays are an attempt to work things out. Sometimes I say what I know. Other times I say what I think I know. And sometimes I say what I wonder.
Each of these have been published here on Recovery Review over the years. But in hindsight, because they consist of material specifically addressing addiction counseling, I thought it might be convenient to have them assembled all in one place.
They’re written in such a way that they can be meditated upon, interacted with, and returned to time and again.
Caution: I do like the use of abstraction and of metaphor. And I like to make us stretch.
