Rabbi Taub give a great talk for anyone with an addict or alcoholic in their life. There are some very illuminating jewels in it. For example:
“We often go through life assigning unreasonable responsibilities to ourselves–G-dlike responsibilities to ourselves. For example, this person I love should be safe and happy. That’s a G-dlike responsibility. I can’t do that. I don’t know any human who can take that kind of responsibility.”
